Morning Morsels 153: Back to the Wilderness

Yah is taking us back into the wilderness to purify us for the great work ahead.

Shalom, and happy morning to you. When Yah first rescued the children of Israel from the land of Egypt, the place to which he carried them for training and testing—and to weed out those who were his from those who were not—was the wilderness. There, the young nation began to forge a relationship with Yah that was dependent on full obedience to his laws and required miraculous protection and provision to survive (and even thrive) during their wilderness wandering.

During this time, any nation that directly challenged true Israel or deprived them in any way were held guilty, with some facing immediate punishment. It is there, deep in the wilderness, that the people of Israel began to learn Yah’s ways. Considering all this, it is no wonder, then, why Yah intends to carry us back to the wilderness in this present era.

1 The word of Yah came to me, saying, 2 Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem, Thus says Yah, I remember the devotion of your youth, your love as a bride, how you followed me in the wilderness, in a land not sown. 3 Israel was pure to Yah, the firstfruits of his harvest. All who ate of it incurred guilt; disaster came upon them, declares Yah.
